Chelsea Women star Lauren James has officially signed a new long-term contract that will keep her at the club until 2030.
The 24-year-old attacker extended her previous deal — which was set to expire in 2027 — securing her future in west London for another four years.
Chelsea confirmed the news on Friday, ensuring that one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Women’s Super League will remain a central figure in the club’s project for years to come.
A key player in Chelsea’s dominance
James returned to Chelsea in 2021 after a spell with Manchester United, and she quickly established herself as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the league.
Since rejoining the Blues, she has scored 31 goals in 105 appearances, helping the club win multiple domestic trophies including:
- 4 Women’s Super League titles
- 4 Women’s FA Cups
- Women’s League Cup
During the 2023/24 WSL season, James produced some of the best performances of her career. She finished the campaign with 13 goals and 2 assists in the league, averaging 1.21 goal contributions per 90 minutes, one of the best attacking records in the division.
Her creativity, dribbling ability and finishing have made her one of the most entertaining players in English women’s football.
From academy talent to Chelsea star
James’ connection with Chelsea goes back many years. She spent part of her youth career in the Chelsea academy before moving to Arsenal and later Manchester United, where she developed into one of England’s most exciting young players.
Her return to Chelsea in 2021 marked the start of a new chapter — and she has since become a key figure in the club’s attacking line.
Across her professional career so far, James has played over 170 matches and scored more than 60 goals for club and country.
A bright future ahead
Still only 24 years old, Lauren James is entering the prime years of her career.
With Chelsea continuing to compete for WSL titles, domestic cups and European success, the new contract ensures that one of England’s brightest attacking stars will remain at the heart of the club’s ambitions for many seasons to come.
